Ralph W. Muchow Auction

Hemmens Center - Elgin Illinois - Aug. 3, 4, 5, 2001

The Muchow Family

The auction of the contents of the museum of Dr. Ralph Muchow was perhaps the largest and best collection of antique radios ever seen.  Collectors came from all over the world and the highest prices I have ever witnessed were paid for some these items.

Compiling a picture history of this auction was a daunting task.  Early on I realized a few well chosen pictures would not convey the scope and magnitude of this auction.  I had to include more and more pictures until the final amount of pictures reached 160!  The pictures themselves were tweaked to provide detail to the radios themselves.  Sometimes the background or other objects suffered but we are interested in the equipment.

I have divided the pictures into 3 categories to make it easier to access the pictures.  Views of the auction items before the auction, Selected radios as they were displayed, and photographs of the auction itself are on different pages.  I had hoped to put the name and sale price on each item item but I decided to post the pictures first and then add the rest as I go through the auction records.  If you wish you can help me by emailing the information so it can be available to others.  Choose from the three categories below.
